As Vince McMahon says, always expect the unexpected. However, The Miz and Maryse certainly did not expect this during WWE Day 1 PPV. After several weeks of buildup on Monday Night Raw, The Miz and Edge finally collided inside the squared circle.

Following an embarrassment this week on Raw, the misery continued for The Miz and Maryse on WWE Day 1 PPV.

Just as it looked like the numbers game will cost Edge the match, Beth Phoenix appeared at the end to turn things in Edge’s favor.

The two former WWE Champions produced a thriller on Day 1 PPV for the WWE Universe. However, it is the Rated-R superstar who emerged victoriously after Phoenix took Maryse out of the equation by chasing Maryse down outside the ring.

Edge defeated The Miz following Beth Phoenix’s arrival at WWE Day 1 PPV

The two veterans matched up to each other at the beginning. After a slight distraction from Maryse, The Miz took control of the proceedings. He pushed Edge face first into the ring post and then tried to injure Edge’s left leg.

Since that moment, Edge looked uncomfortable with his left leg. Taking advantage of that, The Miz continued to dominate. He banged Edge’s head on the announcers’ table several times. He then tried to finish off Edge by hitting a Skull Crushing Finale on the table.

Beth Phoenix is back and might also be back in action soon. Recently, Beth left her role in NXT. Since then, there have been rumors of Beth appearing to help Edge against The Miz and Maryse. It happened on WWE Day 1 PPV itself.
