The two former WWE Champions produced a thriller on Day 1 PPV for the WWE Universe. However, it is the Rated-R superstar who emerged victoriously after Phoenix took Maryse out of the equation by chasing Maryse down outside the ring.

Edge defeated The Miz following Beth Phoenix’s arrival at WWE Day 1 PPV

The two veterans matched up to each other at the beginning. After a slight distraction from Maryse, The Miz took control of the proceedings. He pushed Edge face first into the ring post and then tried to injure Edge’s left leg.

Since that moment, Edge looked uncomfortable with his left leg. Taking advantage of that, The Miz continued to dominate. He banged Edge’s head on the announcers’ table several times. He then tried to finish off Edge by hitting a Skull Crushing Finale on the table.

However, the Rated-R superstar countered it and made The Miz bounce face first on the table. Soon after that, both the superstars tried submission holds to get the victory. First, The Miz locked in the Figure Four on Edge, but Edge countered it moments later.

Later, Edge locked in the Crossface and looked likely to pick up the win until Maryse saved the match by putting The Miz’s leg on the ropes. Towards the end, Maryse almost caused Edge the match by hitting him after The Miz faked an injury to grab the referee’s attention.

Taking advantage of this, The Miz hit Edge with a Skull Crushing Finale. However, the Rated-R superstar kicked out, much to the delight of the fans. Soon after, Beth Phoenix appeared and chased down Maryse outside the ring.

The Miz looked shocked and as he turned back to focus on the match. He got hit by a Spear from the Rated-R superstar. That was enough for Edge to pick up an amazing victory on WWE Day 1 PPV.
