WWE Legend Reveals How Vince McMahon Saved Vader From Detention in the Middle East: ‘Pretty Much Pulled the Dr. D. David Schultz’

The WWE will posthumously induct the late Big Van Vader into the 2022 Class of the Hall of Fame. On the newest edition of the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T discussed former WCW star Vader being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

The six-times World Champion reflected his thoughts on Big Van Vader passing away. Also, Booker T stated how the late Leon White helped to revolutionize the wrestling business.

While speaking to Brad Gilmore of The Boat, Booker T also mentioned that Vader had a significant impact on him while growing up.

The six-times World Champion and Brad Gilmore both felt that Big Van Vader’s induction was well deserving.

Big Van Vader impacted Booker T!

Booker T on the Hall of Fame podcast recollected a memory of his early wrestling days. “What I remember most about Vader is seeing those guys in the locker room at center stage, lined up like sheep, and Vader comes in and says, ‘I’ll take him,'” Booker T said.

The future WWE Hall of Famer Vader influenced Booker T even before starting his wrestling career. Booker mentioned, “He definitely was one of those guys that made an impact on me. Because it was before I ever got into wrestling, but I was watching NWA back in the day, and then I got a chance to see Vader come out.”

“He came from Japan; he had the big Mastadon helmet, the smoke would come out of it. It was definitely revolutionizing the business back then. Vader was always high on the list as far as it got. One of the first big guys that would go out there and pull the moon sault off. So, Vader was definitely Hall of Fame material.”

 

Even the co-host Brad Gilmore continued to share his story of Vader affecting him. In addition, Booker T recommenced high praise for the late Leon White being one of the best big men ever in wrestling.

Booker stated that Leon White fought till the end of the time and recalled the rivalry that former WCW star had with Will Ospreay until the end of his career.

Leon White passed away in 2018 due to heart complications; however, he worked on television until the end. Booker T has massive respect for Big Van Vader’s contribution to the wrestling industry.

The six-time World Champion shared Kuwait’s infamous talk show segment. During the incident, Big Van ended up flipping a table and arguing with the host.

“They [WWE] was doing a talk show, and Vader pretty much pulled the Dr. D, David Schultz. And I think he almost got detained or something like that. From my understanding is, Vince McMahon had to pull some strings actually to get him up out of there,” Booker T added.

The two-times WWE Hall of Famer Booker T can’t have enough words for Big Van Vader. Finally, late Vader will be inducted in Dallas, Texas, at WrestleMania 32 weekend along with The Undertaker. The WWE Universe indeed misses one of the Greatest of All-time!
