Chris Jericho pulled off a miracle back in 2001. Y2J defeated The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night to become the first-ever Undisputed Champion in WWE at the 2001 Vengeance PPV. First, he defeated The Rock to win the WCW Championship and later defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin to win the WWF Championship. But Jericho was not the first choice of Vince McMahon to be the first-ever Undisputed Champion in WWE.
In a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle revealed it was actually him who was supposed to be the first-ever Undisputed Champion in WWE. But Vince McMahon changed it in the last second and gave the limelight to Jericho.
He said, “Vince McMahon had me picked as The Undisputed Champion. He wanted me to win the two titles. And Vince came to me the week prior to the PPV and said, ‘Listen, is it ok with you if I give it to Jericho? Because I want to start pushing Jericho and I think this would be great for him.’ I said, ‘You should do that. I think Jericho needs it. This is a great opportunity for him.’”
