After NXT got obliterated by AEW in the latest Wednesday Night Ratings War, WWE will look to get its act together on the latest episode of SmackDown. Even though the blue brand has been the best performing out of the three top WWE shows when it comes to viewership numbers, the level of programming might be the poorest out of the three.

That’s because a lot of filler content has been finding its way into the two hour time slot on Fox. For instance, the entire Money In The Bank encounter between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt was replayed.

This week, the blue brand looks to fight back as it has three exciting announced segments in addition to the WWE Extreme Rules fallout.

Three major segments announced for WWE Smackdown

The biggest attraction of the night will be the Bar Fight between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus. This match was initially supposed to take place at Extreme Rules but was pushed to weekly television.

The major reasons behind that is rumored to be the falling ratings. Even though this rivalry has been underwhelming at best and cringeworthy at worst, it’ll still attract viewers due to the caliber of the performers involved.

It is also expected to end the saga between Hardy and Sheamus so that the two competitors can move on to bigger and better things.

The second big announced segment relates to Sasha Banks and Bayley. “The Golden Role Models” have been the best thing about WWE television for weeks now and they will look to continue that momentum.

At tonight’s SmackDown, they are expected to address the championship landscape. It’s only fair because they hold all the women’s gold in WWE right now. Expect a new challenger to step up to the plate.

Speaking of challengers, the WWE social media fan following was focused on one particular Superstar this week. It was none other than Naomi who finds herself in the spotlight out of nowhere.

After her loss to Lacey Evans last week following the embarrassing Karaoke segment, Naomi looked dejected. Fans on social media became her voice as they started trending #Naomideservesbetter.

Many Superstars also agreed with this trend. While WWE is known to pretend that they make their own decisions, every now and then, the pitch of the fans is so high that they just can’t ignore.

This week, Naomi will be a guest on Miz Tv where she will talk about this new found support. Obviously, the cocky Miz and John Morrison duo will say something offensive which will leaf to a passionate promo.

Rest assured, we will surely see a new and repackaged Naomi.

Expected fall out from Extreme Rules

The biggest question coming out of Extreme Rules was about the status of Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men was drowned by Bray Wyatt in the swamp fight.

It will be interesting to see how WWE explains the return of Braun as well as the next step for this intriguing rivalry.

In addition, the new SmackDown tag team Champions, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro, should also talk about their future plans. After a long time, the tag team division looks fresh and we should get some good clashes.

There’s also the ancilliary storyline between Baron Corbin and Matt Riddle. For the sake of continuity, the WWE will have to add the next installation of their rivalry.

Last but not the least, Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles also needs a new challenger.
