When we look at the rivalry of The Undertaker in his 30+ illustrious wrestling career, many WWE superstars and legends pop to the mind. However, one rival of The Undertaker had a heat involved with the 16-time World Champion, Ric Flair. In the early 90s, when Ric Flair was on the booking committee of WCW, he didn’t see potential in this former rival of The Undertaker.

Flair, in his book “To Be The Man,” mentioned that this infamous former rival of Taker, was not a great worker. Even The Undertaker forgot to mention this rival in his Hall of fame speech. This rival was none other than WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, aka Mankind.

In one of Flair’s Wooooo Nation Uncensored podcast episodes, Mick Foley mentioned that WWE could have easily avoided putting Foley and Flair in an unnecessary spot.

“I may have sold it physically emotionally; it hurt. You [Flair] and I began really good; we did the evolution thing. I didn’t realize the receipt was necessary. WWE probably should have pulled us aside before any of that stuff. But I got to address it somehow; I’ve never been a bully in my life. But honestly, in Huntsville, I guess the intention was to make Ric look bad in front of the boys,” Foley said.

The 16-times World Champion Ric Flair and Mick Foley found themselves in a backstage brawl in 2004. During a Monday Night Raw taping at Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama, Ric Flair was in the cafeteria when the iconic rival of The Undertaker approached him.

What happened between the rival of The Undertaker and Ric Flair?

When Mankind aka Mick Foley, approached ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair in Huntsville, he had a book in his hands. Foley wanted Ric Flair to sign his book so that they could auction it off for charity. But before signing the book, Ric Flair went to shake the hands of Foley, but Foley refused to do so.

Mick Foley stated, “He [Flair] went to shake my hands, and I wouldn’t shake his hand, and I said, ‘You want to sign this book for me?’ I had envisioned a lot of scenarios, and never once did I envision Ric getting up and punching me. It never even entered my mind.”

“When they were pulling me apart, Rhino was the main guy holding me back. He didn’t have to work very hard to hold me back because I wasn’t actually trying to make forward progress. Ric’s anger just caught me off guard, like I never saw it coming,” Mankind added.

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley never imagined his handshake rejection would infuriate Ric Flair. So much so, that the very next moment, Ric Flair threw a punch at Foley’s face. This move by Flair quickly escalated into heated words between the two. However, no further altercation occurred between Flair and Foley; they battled in SummerSlam 2006 in an “I Quit” match.
