“WWE Saving Netflix”: Fans Overjoyed at Decade-Long Service Being Added to Streaming Giant’s Library

WWE recently entered an official partnership with Netflix for the streaming rights of Monday Night Raw. The deal, which will take effect from January 2025 is a massive hit with the fans. This was a breakthrough event for the pro wrestling outfit, especially after reaching a dead end with their TV network.

While WWE has now cracked a contract with the $200 billion streaming giant, this is actually its third act in the streaming world. In fact, the Stanford-based company had built its own network online, which turned out to be a massive success. A recent social media upload has announced the dropping of curtains on WWE’s original service, as fans react to this huge milestone.

The happy ending of a decade-long era

Just a month from now and ten years ago, WWE launched the WWE Network for its fans on 24th February 2004. Launching itself just 20 days after today’s social media goliath Facebook, it didn’t have the power of social media to promote itself back then. However, it relied on the impact it had created in everyone’s hearts with their live TV shows.

Wrestling News Observer reports, “The WWE Network will be discontinued at the end of this year when WWE’s new deal with Netflix comes into effect & all archival/classic content will be moved to the platform outside of the United States. (Wrestling News Observer)” This comes off as a giant achievement for WWE, especially the WWE Network as it kept fans hooked.

While the network got transferred to Peacock in 2022, it instantly garnered over three million viewers for its content. Now, after an independent and supported run, WWE’s third streaming act will now unfold on Netflix.

Reacting to this post, the WWE Universe hailed this staunch accomplishment of the pro wrestling company. In fact, many even said that WWE would be aiding Netflix the same way it aided Peacock.

WWE Universe clamors at the next step in WWE’s journey

Several WWE fans pooled in the comments section of the tweet from Wrestle Ops and praised the journey and hard work of WWE. 

One of the fans said that the deal is actually more of a Godsend for Netflix than WWE.

Another fan hailed WWE for surpassing several traditional sports with this achievement.

Although everyone rejoiced over this milestone, one of the fans hoped that Netflix does more justice to WWE than Peacock.

Joining the celebration, one of the fans thought that this was the greatest feat pulled off by WWE.

An observant fan also mentioned that this was another year of cumulative progress for WWE.

Unfulfilled with just one compliment, the observant fan added another tweet.

Another fan mentioned how WWE had laid out its plan to expand initially and where it has come now.

Lastly, a fan complimented the decade-long journey of the WWE Network and lauded its deal with Netflix.
