WWE body slams the year 2020

2020 has not been an exceptional year for pro wrestling. After the Royal Rumble, WWE witnessed a slump in viewership leading up to WrestleMania. This problem only amplified once the global pandemic struck, forcing people to stay at home and kept fans away from stadiums.

Despite the strange and scary circumstances, the WWE continued to put on weekly shows from their esteemed Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Raw and SmackDown continued to entertain fans, while NXT’s Wednesday Night War raged on against AEW Dynamite.

In the video, they personify the year 2020 as a gross, ugly monster getting beaten up by the best wrestlers of 2020. The wrestlers in the video package were Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns, Sasha Banks, Asuka, Randy Orton, John Cena and many more.

Superstars who defined 2020

Amidst the lockdown era, only a select few WWE superstars thrived in this new environment. The MVP of 2020 for WWE has been Roman Reigns.

Since returning at SummerSlam, Reigns is undefeated, unwavered and unbothered about anything else but himself. The Universal Champion has established himself as the top heel in the business.

Drew McIntyre had a fine beginning to the year. He won the Royal Rumble, beat Brock Lesnar for the title in the main event of WrestleMania, and held it for quite a long time.

The rivalry against Orton halted McIntyre’s momentum, but the Scottish Warrior will still end the year as WWE Champion, unless AJ Styles takes it away from him.

Speaking of AJ Styles, the WrestleMania Boneyard match between him and the Undertaker stole the show. The cinematic masterpiece was the perfect ratio of over-the-top antics and Attitude Era brawling.

It was a fitting final WrestleMania match for the Undertaker. How can we forget the emotional retirement of the Deadman at Survivor Series?
