Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Brock Lesnar signed his first contract with WWE in 2000. The promotion placed him into its developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he stayed for two years. He began his main roster run in March 2002.
Before his on-screen debut, WWE booked him to fight in several live events against WWE veterans. They did so to polish his skills and get him ready for becoming ‘The Next Big Thing’ in WWE. One such veteran who worked with him was Lance Storm, who has one hell of a pro wrestling resume.
He recently revealed an incident from two decades ago involving him putting over ‘The Beast Incarnate’ that left him fuming backstage.

Lance Storm had three back-to-back matches with Brock Lesnar
On January 2002, WWE held a live event in Binghamton, New York. Lesnar and Storm had three matches for three consecutive nights. WWE tasked the veteran to win the match for the first two days and lose to his opponent on the third day. So he did as the officials asked him to.

But after the competitive third-night match, a WWE agent pulled him aside and “reprimanded” him. The reason was that they wanted the bout to look like ‘The Conqueror’ squashing him. This made him mad that if they wanted the match to go in a particular direction, they should have informed him before the match.
2) The third night I was told they wanted him to win. I said cool and we went and had another competitive good match and Brock beat me clean. I got to the back and another agent pulled me aside and reprimanded me and told me ….. cont.

Nonetheless, Storm was successful in the directive that the Stanford-based promotion had assigned him.
WWE tasked Storm to make Lesnar look good
As the former Intercontinental Champion was an experienced pro wrestler, WWE booked him to teach/coach ‘The Beast’. Plus, his expertise in the field made him the best choice as an opponent who would make him look good and protect him during the matches at the same time.

Lesnar was scheduled to make his main roster on-screen debut just three months later. WWE had to pitch him against the best of the best who knows how to get the job done. The first two nights, he won by cheating. This made his opponent look strong in front of the audience. On the third night, the former MMA star beat him fair and square.
A slight night from Storm certainly made the combat sports athlete look better back in the day. But today, he doesn’t need anyone’s help to make him look good. In fact, he is one of those superstars who have the potential to carry any match on their back.
