Their WrestleMania match goes down in history as one of the most anticipated feuds the WWF fans were hoping to see, ever since the WCW buyout. And the feud between The Rock and Hogan was as iconic as the match itself. And to add some spice into the mix, Bruce Prichard, former WWE producer, spills some beans on their first meet.

When talking about the backstage segment between The Rock and nWo, Bruce Prichard said, “Oh s**t, I don’t know, Bryan may have written it but that was literally man, going down there and kind of talking back and forth. And just, those guys all doing their s**t but I believe that Bryan may have written it but that was those guys performing it, being in the moment… And it was just cool because we were live and we did it.”

The Rock was a must-see wrestler at this time and pairing him up with the returning Hogan, along with Diesel and Ramon, was the best thing to come out of 2002 in WWF.

The match would go on to award Hogan another run as the babyface, something that would recover his career from the WCW run.

Interfering in the middle of the feud between The Rock and Steve Austin, the nWo would be introduced as the big heels of the company. But that would change instantly when Vince McMahon noticed the amount of fanfare that Hogan was receiving despite being the heel.
Not only was the match between The Rock and Hogan amazing but was also considered the passing of the torch match. With Hogan, the previous generation’s megastar, handing the reins of the company to The Rock. It is also very ironic as The Rock would also star in the main role of Scorpion King.

The reception of this feud was larger than life. Being quoted as ‘Icon vs Icon’, the match delivered in every sense of the word.
