No matter which side of the wrestling divide you stand on, the wrestling legion can agree that the McMahon family-owned WWE is a dominant force in pro wrestling. The aggressive nature with which the promotion grew since Vince McMahon took over helped them gain an edge over other promotions. Another wrestling promotion acknowledged this. Major League Wrestling had filed a lawsuit back in 2022. WWE’s lawyer recently revealed that the lawsuit could reach its end with a settlement.

The lawsuit filed by MLW centers around the control WWE has on media rights. While the Stamford-based promotion has easily negotiated deals in the past worth millions, MLW claimed that WWE has secretly ruined potential media deals for the New York-based promotion. The promotion also claimed that this has ruined the potential careers of many MLW stars who were on the rise.

What role did Stephanie McMahon play during the WWE lawsuit?
A court document filed by MLW back in August 2023 suggested the involvement of Stephanie McMahon. According to reports, August 2021 could have been a big year for MLW as they had agreed to a deal in place with the Fox-owned streaming platform Tubi. It was later revealed that Stephanie McMahon had a meeting with a Tubi executive on August 9, 2021. Moreover, this was a day before the press release announcing Tubi’s collaboration with MLW.

However, the deal was annexed on the same day when McMahon met with the Tubi executives. This led to the growing suspicion by the MLW executives that WWE might be allegedly involved with the canceled deal. MLW later on slammed an accusation that the Stamford-based promotion might have also played a role in MLW losing its deal with digital cable network, Reelz. The accusation was based on the fact that Reelz has ties with the NBC-owned Peacock. The streaming platform is the home of WWE across the United States as it streams all of its episodes and PLEs.
