The Dwayne Johnson co-owned XFL finally began last month. The revamped football league has already taken massive strides in the very short period of its existence according to DJ himself. He recently announced on his Instagram account that the competition outperformed NFL Combine, NHL, and MLS in viewership numbers. And now there is one more reason to celebrate for the XFL fans. The league has recently announced a major sponsorship deal.
Dwayne Johnson co-owned XFL announces a new partnership
It is a common practice for sports competitions to align themselves with a designated partner. UFC recently announced its association with Logan Paul and KSI’s Prime energy drink. And the XFL is no different. It has been announced that Teremana Tequilla will be the official Tequilla of the league. The announcement was made from the official Instagram page of the new competition.

Teremana Tequilla was founded by Johnson himself in 2020. The fact that he serves as the owner of both the league and the liquor company did not sit well with the fans on the web. They took to social media in huge numbers to take direct shots at The Brahma Bull.

The 10-time WWE champion, like many other celebrities, has ventured into a plethora of projects. And like his impressive filmography, he has found success in those as well.
Other Johnson venture has already backed the league
It includes his foray into the energy drink segment with ZOA Energy Drinks. It has already been announced as the official energy drink for the competition. Johnson entered the liquor market as well with Teremana Tequilla. His own businesses acting as a partner of the XFL have raised the fans’ doubt over the success of the league.

That is not entirely true as the XFL has partnered with the non-Johnson-owned Ticketmaster to facilitate its ticketing as per SportBusiness Sponsorship.
The football league is still in a very early stage and would be requiring all the financial help it gets. Dwayne Johnson is trying to find various ways to fund the XFL. And that has seen him partner with his own businesses, which in turn has drawn the wrath of fans.
But if the competition picks up, there would be a long queue of potential sponsors. And there won’t be much complaining in that case.
