We are living the highly hyped-up WrestleMania 40 kickoff event from the Las Vegas T-Mobile arena. As WWE announced on social media earlier in the night, we saw CM Punk and Big E join Michael Cole and Pat McAfee as the co-hosts moving forward to a jam-packed discussion. Ex-AEW star CM Punk got his due dose of jabs from none other than the veteran Big E.

Big E employs sarcasm to take digs at CM Punk while hosting the WrestleMania kick-off show

The Second City Saint had a never-ending relationship with controversy throughout his short AEW stint. From being the main character in the infamous AEW All Out media scrum to engaging in a backstage brawl with Jack Perry, Punk was extremely bizarre in his antics. Finally, it led to his firing by AEW head honcho Tony Khan back in September. Although now he’s back at his old wrestling home, WWE’s Big E reminded him of his past. Taking shots at his past, Big E joked, I’m only here so Punk doesnt get fined. You have a reputation.

While the Chicago-based star hasn’t resorted to his controversial actions after his return to WWE, he suffered an unforeseen setback. The Second City Saint suffered an injury during his first televised match at the Royal Rumble PLE. The injury means that Punk would miss out on featuring at WrestleMania 40.

Punk is still hurt about his unfortunate WrestleMania absence

The “Best in the World” received an enormous blow from Drew McIntyre as a Future Shock DDT left CM Punk with a torn triceps. The mishap led him to miss this year’s grandest show in Philadelphia. While the inclusion in the kick-off show diluted the ill feelings to some extent, the hurt is still there. Before stepping into the Las Vegas arena to host the media event alongside Big E, Punk noted, “One-week post-surgery and I’m pissed it’s not a hundred percent, you know, that’s not how it works, but doesn’t make me any less mad.”

Despite his sorrowful reflections, the former AEW star was in fine form in the commentary booth for the duration of the event. However, after making his presence felt in the ‘Sin City’, we will look forward to getting him back in the ring at the earliest. What’s your take on CM Punk being at the sarcastic gunpoint of Big E at tonight’s WrestleMania kick-off show? Let us know in the comments.
