The 36th edition of the WWE SummerSlam proved to be a mega success. The event recorded huge numbers in viewership and also got very positive feedback from the audience as well. The event had several high-profile matches that just won the audience over. One of the most anticipated matches at the SummerSlam event was the face-off between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes.

Lesnar and Rhodes had some unfinished business, and the SummerSlam was the perfect stage to get even for the two superstars. While everyone enjoyed the high-stakes matchup, one thing did not sit well with the WWE Universe and has created a big problem for WWE.

Both men fought vigorously in the ring when Rhodes made a technically illegal move. During the match, Rhodes rammed the top half of the steel steps across Lesnar’s skull Despite this, the referee did not call off the match and did not ring the bell for disqualification.

Speaking in an interview with ‘Busted Open Radio,’ former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas said this should have been called out. He said, “You can throw them into the stairs, and that’s not a disqualification… but he picked up the top half of the stairs, and he ran it into Brock. Technically speaking, that should have been a disqualification.”

Korderas said that he understands that some things need to be looked over in big matches. However, he also agreed that the referee should not come under fire for it. Korderas said, “You have to cover up for the referee and not put the heat on the ref.”

He said that such things are the responsibility of the WWE and not the referee. Hall of Famer and Busted Open co-host Mark Henry agreed with Korderas and said the heel should take all the heat for such action instead of the referee.
