Days after declaring the XFL a success, Dwayne Johnson, yet again, finds himself in a quagmire. Even though the WWE legend is facing a financial loss worth millions of dollars, The Rock has received much-needed support from someone even he would not have expected.

Believe it or not, Johnson is getting an offer handed to him by a renowned NFL player, who may take his dream to the next level. And if things do not go south, this could be a game-changer for both Johnson and XFL.

Despite XFL’s estimated losses, Dwayne Johnson has a saving grace

On Twitter, Bobby Wagner, a middle linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks, recently replied to Forbes’ article on Johnson’s losses with the XFL. At the moment, he is with the Seahawks, but that contract is limited only to February of next year. Wagner’s addition would give the XFL a massive boost. Not only has he played in the NFL, but his star power will certainly draw more fans to The Rock’s league.

The XFL already has the best coaches and players that were unfortunate to not have been picked by the NFL. But some players have even hopped onto the NFL back again after their recent season in the XFL.

While he might be running the league on a loss, this project wasn’t a money-grabbing project for him. More than anything, Johnson and his manager, Dany Garcia, started XFL again to act as a platform for the 54th number player and a league of opportunities.

How Dwayne Johnson’s XFL is running despite early estimated losses

From the beginning, Johnson made sure to promote XFL as not a competitor to the giant NFL. Instead, he took the route of giving players, like him, that didn’t make the NFL cut, a second chance. This has led to so many veterans, players, rookies, coaches, and everyone involved getting something, even though the biggest football league passed them by.

To make it a profitable product though, Johnson’s view of the XFL is a long-term one. Even before the estimated reports came out, Johnson already had to let go of some employees to make sure the losses remain minimal and have a working model in place that could sustain the league for years to come.
