RARE: Only Time John Madden and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon Worked Together

Vince McMahon, one of the biggest celebrities in the world, is a friend or had shared moments with other big celebrities. Also, he bought some of them to WWE as well. For example, Vince McMahon made Donald Trump a part of a WWE storyline at WrestleMania.

Another celebrity with whom Vince McMahon shared a rare moment is John Madden. The legendary NFL coach and the WWE chairman commentated on the Miller Lite “Lite-A-Mania” Beer commercials. Though many people might not know about it, it actually happened back in 1988.

Unfortunately, Madden passed away recently on 28th December 2021. His death sent shock waves throughout the entire world. The NFL players, teams, and fans will definitely miss John Madden.

Madden took the NFL to new heights and helped it grow in popularity all around the world. Even WWE legend The Iron Sheik reacted and expressed his grief following the death of the legendary NFL coach.

During an episode of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, Prichard got asked if there were any big celebrities with whom WWE wanted to do business, but could not do it because of interest or scheduling conflicts. He immediately replied by taking John Madden’s name.

Bruce Prichard said, “John doesn’t fly. So anywhere that John went, John would have to go by bus. And inevitably, whenever we would have WrestleMania, we would always contact John and say, ‘Hey, we’re here out, here’s where we are going to be. Are you going to be anywhere near there that you could get there by bus?’”

The Senior Vice President of WWE further revealed John Madden would look at his schedule or say, ‘Hey, I have got to get closer to it.’ Prichard mentioned John was a great guy, but it never worked out.

He further admitted that WWE wanted to bring in Madden for WrestleMania and have him commentate at ‘The Showcase of The Immortals’, but unfortunately, that never really happened.
