WWE is always on the lookout for upcoming stars. Before the creation of NXT, WWE signed new talent from other promotions or simply threw them into the main roster with no proper training.

Ever since WWE founded their NXT division in 2010, the amount of well-developed and homegrown talents have multiplied.

Reigns has his eyes set on the WWE NXT Title match

On May 19th, 2021, Ryan Satin, a professional wrestling journalist, put out a tweet that read, “Paul Heyman on #WWENXT

this week said Roman Reigns has his eye on the NXT title match between Karrion Kross and Finn Balor.” 

Ryan also added a GIF of young Will Smith looking over in shock. This update from a credible source like Satin is certainly something to look at.

The Tribal Chief’s manager coming and stating that the face of the company is looking forward to watching any match is a big deal, let alone NXT. This shows that WWE has made massive improvements in their upcoming wrestlers.

What could this mean for the future of WWE?

If just glance over it as just a piece of information, it doesn’t mean much. But if we look at it from a wrestling standpoint, it could reveal a few underlying intentions.

First, when was the last time you heard ‘The Head of the Table’ was looking forward towards a WWE match that he wasn’t involved in? Second, why this particular matchup out of all the rest?

We tried answering some of them. ‘The Big Dog’ could be just a fan of Finn Balor or Karrion Kross and may want to enjoy an excellent match.

However, this seems unlikely. His tweet says it all: “I don’t need stunts or gimmicks. I am every bit of this art form. 30 min inside the ropes..

“No crowd, no problem. Head and shoulders above everyone else and that’s being generous!! THEE MAIN EVENT. #TakeItFromMe“

Another possibility is that he is sizing up his future opponents for the WWE Universal Championship. WWE always calls up the top stars of NXT and drafts them into Raw or SmackDown.

Karrion Kross and Finn Balor battling it out for the WWE NXT title means that the main roster call up for either of them might be closer than we think.

Roman might be thinking ahead of time, already planning how to defeat his future challengers if they happen to be so.
