While speaking to Ronda Rousey’s official website, Adam revealed the top matches of his WWE career. Although he was hesitant at first, he chose two sets of matches as his favorite.
For the first of the matches, he chose the one where he won the NXT Championship after defeating Johnny Gargano. The duo had three matches in three back-to-back TakeOvers – New York, the second one in Stamford, and then the third one TakeOver: Toronto.
“I’m really proud of our second one, in Stamford. And that’s not just because that night I won the NXT Championship and my family was there and my girlfriend was there,” Cole said. The TakeOver XXV is his favorite, as it was a pressure test for both men.
Gargano and Cole’s first match was so well-received that they feared they would not be able to keep up with the anticipation the next time. However, the second one became even more acclaimed than the first.
“But then to be able to do that, and for people to love that one just as much, some people liked it, even more, it was a really rewarding and cool feeling for me. Because any sort of trilogy is really challenging to keep it fresh and interesting. But yeah, that one’s really special.”
Adam Cole is proud of his Survivor Series Spot with Pete Dunne
The next favorite match of Cole was his title defense against Pete Dunne at Survivor Series 2019. It was the first time that NXT participated in the PPV as a third major brand.
Therefore, garnering the attention of the audience was a major challenge for Dune and Cole. Cole recalls, “So I and Pete went out there in the beginning. We didn’t totally have them with us. They were respectfully paying attention, but they weren’t invested in the match.”

But Dunne and Cole stuck to their plan till the end and were eventually rewarded with a stellar crowd reaction. The match eventually became one of the most famous ones of the night.
“It’s one thing to have the fans invested in you from the beginning, and that, of course, is always the best. But to get them through your actions in the ring, that’s a whole other victory. So that one was really special to me too.”
