NXT UK Champion Walter Severely Injured! Out of His Scheduled Match Against Ilja Dragunov

NXT has shelved the NXT UK Championship rematch between Walter and Ilja Dragunov for now. WWE announced that the current NXT UK champion has severely injured his left hand ahead of their rematch on July 22 and has deemed him unfit to compete.

WWE has still not decided on any new date for the rematch and has simply postponed the fight.

WWE turned to Twitter to announce this “severe” injury sustained by Walter.

Last week it was announced that Walter and Ilja Dragunov will fight for the NXT United Kingdom Title in a rematch. Both the wrestlers met in an in-ring press conference.

WWE also announced that the two wrestlers had an altercation backstage, which led to Walter’s injury in his left hand.

Is Walter legitimately injured or is it a work to delay the fight?

Many fans consider this “injury” as a part of a shoot to delay the match until the audience is available to witness it. This is because when the rematch was announced last week, many fans speculated why WWE wasn’t waiting until live fans can be in attendance.

Dragunov became the number one contender in June after he won a triple threat match between himself, Rampage Brown, and Joe Coffey.

Walter has been the NXT UK champion for over two years now and seeing him lose his title because of an injury would really disappoint wrestling fans.
