Rhea Ripley fought Raquel Gonzalez in a grueling last woman standing match. Although Ripley lost the match, her sheer hard work got the attention of WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.
For the first half of the match, Ripley had the advantage. She used Kendo sticks, handcuffs, and what not to gain the advantage. Both women tried their best before Gonzalez became the last one standing.
After the match, WWE Hall of Famer, Shawn Michaels, reposted a status from WWE NXT and captioned it as “Wait a second… I’ve seen this before?”
The status was of Rhea Ripley making the infamous DX ‘Suck it’ sign right before going for a Swanton Bomb on Gonzalez through the table.
Notably, almost all the members of DX serve as producers and advisors to WWE NXT. Triple H serves as the founder and executive producer of NXT along with Michaels.
As for Rhea Ripley, she lost her grip after Dakota Kai interfered in the match. Although she locked Kai in a submission maneuver, Ripley ultimately succumbed to Gonzalez.
Gonzalez slammed Ripley into the stage with a one-handed power bomb. Both women went inside the rubble; however, Gonzalez emerged on the seventh count and stood on her feet by the tenth count.
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair recently spoke to WWE UK and said how Michaels is the greatest worker in wrestling. The duo faced off at WrestleMania 24 and ‘The Heartbreak Kid retired the ‘Nature Boy.’
“Shawn is the greatest worker in the history of our business. I think everybody would give that to him. He carried me in my farewell retirement match. No matter how many people want to think I was holding up my end of it, I was trying to get through it.”
Flair concluded, “For my money, in the ring, I’d put him and Ricky Steamboat in a class by themselves. I always liked being around Shawn. As far as a guy in the ring I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody better.”
It is great to see legends like Shawn Michaels taking interest in promoting and uplifting new stars like Rhea Ripley. With their guidance, NXT is sure to build some new legends of the future.
