WWE Announces Massive Title Match for NXT Takeover:XXX

WWE NXT has now confirmed a title match for NXT: Takeover XXX, that will take place one night before SummerSlam. The company confirmed this news through their social media and official website.

Io Shirai has had a great couple of months in the WWE. Shirai defeated Charlotte in a women’s championship by disqualification which helped Charlotte retain the title.

At NXT Takeover: In Your House, Io Shirai realized her dream. The Japanese wrestler won the NXT women’s championship defeating Charlotte and a returning Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match.

The champ turned face when she confronted the role models Sasha Banks and Bayley. Io Shirai would then face The Boss on night one of NXT: The Great American Bash in the main event.

The match was a spectacle that lit up night one of the PPV. The match was so brilliant that it helped NXT defeat AEW in the ratings which had performers like Cody Rhodes, Adam Page, and Kenny Omega.

Post that historic night, everyone wondered what was next for the champion. Dakota Kai answered it by assaults for two continuous weeks.

However, in NXT, you don’t get title shots by asking, you need to earn them. That’s exactly what Kai did.

Io Shirai vs Dakota Kai at WWE NXT Takeover: XXX

Dakota Kai faced Rhea Ripley in a no.1 contenders match. Ripley dominated the match from top to bottom. However, interference from Mercedez Martinez of the Robert Stone brand helped Kai.

Post Dakota Kai’s win, WWE confirmed the championship match on their twitter account and on their official website.

As for Rhea Ripley, she wanted to move on from the rivalry with The Robert Stone brand. After this interference from Mercedez Martinez, this rivalry seems far from over.

Coming to Io Shirai and Dakota Kai, this is the first time they will be facing each other in a Championship Match.
