After AEW’s acquisition of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, the pro wrestling world is abuzz with new rumors and possibilities of who else might turn up there. The latest name on the list is former NXT Champion, Adam Cole.

Cole’s WWE contract reportedly ran out at NXT TakeOver: 36. Interestingly, his contract did not have the standard 90-day non-compete clause hence, he is free to work anywhere he wants.

Taking advantage of this, AEW had reportedly sent him a contract. Even, his girlfriend and AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D recently teased Cole‘s appearance on AEW. However, there is one man in particular who is not happy about the debacle.

The man is none other than SmackDown commentator and former rival of Adam Cole, Pat McAfee. Recently under an Instagram post of Bleacher Report Wrestling, McAfee commented, “Hell… He (Cole) should go to hell.”

Both men feuded last year at NXT after Cole repeatedly mocked Pat for his height. McAfee, in turn, invalidated Cole’s 403-day title reign. McAfee debuted on NXT at TakeOver: XXX against Cole but lost the match.

After the defeat at TakeOver: XXX, the duo continued their feud. It ultimately culminated at NXT TakeOver: War Games when Cole’s stable, ‘The Undisputed Era’ defeated McAfee’s stable, ‘The Kings of NXT’ aka Team McAfee.

Is Adam Cole staying in WWE?

If Adam Cole chooses to stay in WWE, he would be transferred to the main roster. Former NXT Champions and top stars Finn Balor and Karrion Kross have both returned and debuted on SmackDown and RAW respectively.

When Cole goes to the main roster, he would have a huge following from his NXT as well as Indie days. He could go after world championships as well.

But is he leaves WWE for AEW, that would be equally fruitful if not more. From a personal perspective, various superstars have lauded AEW’s workspace and creative team. Cole could also be near Britt Baker.

Apart from this, Cole could be a great addition to fellow Bullet Club Member and current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega’s stable The Elite, or he could join Impact for the ‘real’ Bullet Club with Jey White. The possibilities are truly endless.
