Just the next moment eased out all the excitement as the star failed to make his way down the aisle. It looked like Dominik Mysterio was the reason behind this as he came out in his father’s mask as No. 18. But the report revealed something else. The main culprit here is the injury that he faced during a match just ahead of the big battle.

Fans reacted to the real reason behind Rey Mysterio’s absence

“Rey Mysterio was injured — at the SmackDown taping in his match with Karrion Kross. He was going to be in the Rumble, but that spot was changed. I think they were actually supposed to do some teases with (Dominik) to set up a WrestleMania match”, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Some of the fans seem to be concerned about Rey’s injury, while others pour out their utter disappointment about how the entire thing has been handled.

Most of them seem disgusted with WWE’s decision not to replace him with another deserving superstar and to push this story instead.

There are fans wholeheartedly praying for The Greatest Masked Man’s soonest recovery.

The Master of 619 is likely to face his son Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania. Fans are hoping for no mishap to happen until then.

Some fans compared WWE to AEW following their decision to push the story as Dominik injured Rei, instead of putting another star in his place.

The equation between Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio

While Rey couldn’t appear in the ring due to injury, Dominic also got eliminated as the 22nd one by none other than the Winner, Cody Rhodes.

The Mysterios are the first-ever father-son tag team champions in WWE’s history. However, several months ago, at Clash at the Castle, Dominik turned on the elder Mysterio to join Judgement Day. On a personal level, too, the duo engaged in a feud that led to Dominik’s arrest on Christmas Day. Though Rey previously spoke about how he and his son were like best friends, the equation seemed to have changed now.

For now, fans are excited for their dramatic meet at the upcoming WrestleMania if no situation leads the situation to change.
