Sami Zayn had a moderately good year in 2020. Although he had to relinquish the title and re-win it, Zayn was the Intercontinental Champion for the majority of the year. However, on the last day of 2020, his pride shattered.

After a devastating title loss, Zayn took to Twitter and let out his frustration. He argued WWE has conspired against him and vowed to go to the bottom of the ‘injustice.’

The ‘Great Liberator’ was so obsessed with his title that he used to defend it by hook or crook. Most of the times, he retained his title by winning via count-out or disqualification.

To prevent that from happening, WWE authorized a lumberjack match against Big E. In the match, when Zayn tried to escape, sSuperstars from the blue brand carried him back to the ring. He eventually lost the title to Big E via pinfall.

Sami Zayn lost at his own award show last week

After WWE’s injustice at the Slammy Awards, Sami built his own award show called the ‘Sami Awards.’ While he won two awards, the superstar of the year went to Big E.

An infuriated Sami demanded an answer to this mishap while Big E gave him a beatdown for the interruption. Even when the title match was announced, Zayn retaliated by saying he never agreed to the match.

Sami even compared Big E to Kanye West as he ‘snatched’ the Sami Award from Zayn.

Now that Zayn has lost the title, he will go after Big E. After that is done, Zayn could retort back to his ‘Great Liberator’ persona or challenge Roman Reigns.
