The Phenomenal One has been a fighting champion since winning the prestigious title. He has defended his title against the likes of Drew Gulak and the upcoming sensation Matt Riddle.

As for the women, Bayley defeated challenger Nikki Cross at the Horror Show at Extreme Rules. A little help from Sasha Banks took the champion past the finish line.

In the latest edition, Nikki Cross faced her best friend Alexa Bliss. Cross defeated Bliss to become the number one contender.

As for the men, there was a fatal four-way match to decide the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship. Gran Metalik defeated his Lucha house party partner Lince Durado, Drew Gulak, and Shorty G.

WWE announces two championship matches for next week

Check out the official announcement made by WWE.

AJ Styles and Gran Metalik is expected to be a matchup of high skill. Metalik is a high flyer and Styles is one of the greatest in-ring athletes ever.

Metalik came out as a very surprising winner to the WWE Universe. However, this could be due to a shortage of superstars on the Blue Brand due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Top superstars of the show like Jeff Hardy and Sheamus are currently in a feud. Cesaro and Nakamura are currently in the tag team division. Matt Riddle, who came in like a breath of fresh air, is currently in a feud with Baron Corbin.

So Gran Metalik being number contender for the title is a little unexpected but can certainly give us a great match. In the case of Bayley and Nikki Cross, it is another big week for the best friends.

Sasha Banks challenges Asuka for the RAW women’s title. By the end of Friday, Bayley and Banks could have every title available in the women’s division.
