WWE SmackDown Results: Roman Reigns Emerges Victorious Against Kevin Owens in a Grueling Steel Cage Match

As announced earlier, SmackDown featured a steel cage match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens. Although the event was perceived to be the main event, the blue event kicked the night off with the cage match.

After both men made their way into the ring, the match started. One could attain the victory through submission, pin-fall or the good old-fashioned “escape the cage.”

Reigns quickly went for the offense with headbutts, but Owens countered him with a big boot. Reigns went for a Samoan drop for a quick two count. Owens quickly got an opening and bettered the ‘Tribal Chief’ with some swift moves and slams to the cage.

Owens cornered Reigns and hit him with a cannonball for a close two count. Reigns soon recovered and hit Owens with headbutts and strikes. As both men climbed up to the top rope, Owens hit a huge frog splash for another close two count.

Owens nailed the Champion with a powerbomb, but Reigns kicked out in time. Reigns soon recovered and went to the top rope again. This time, too, Owens countered it with a huge fisherman Buster.

However, Reigns seemed invincible after another kick-out. Owens went for the stunner, but Reigns countered with a superman punch.

A desperate Reigns tried to trap Owens with the guillotine lock. However, Owens countered with the help of the ropes, and he started climbing up the cage.A desperate Reigns stopped the ‘Prizefighter’ in his tracks. Post this, both men tried to simultaneously escape the cage.

Jey Uso ran into the Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens match once again

When Kevin Owens was on the verge of winning the match, Jey Uso came running in and allowed Reigns to pull the former back to the cage.

Both men tried to gain the upper hand before Owens delivered the stunner. However, Uso handcuffed Owens to the cage, restraining him from gaining any advantage. Owens got his feet out of the door but couldn’t get to the floor.

Roman smiled at Owens’ frustration and slowly walked out from the ring as he retained the championship. Owens kept cursing and shouting helplessly as he remained handcuffed to the ring.
