Roman Reigns has become the definition of a dominant champion. Since his return at SummerSlam and winning the WWE Universal Championship, he has cemented himself as the top dog of WWE. With Survivor Series coming up, the Universal Champion could be in for a last minute change of opponent.

Randy Orton was chosen as Reigns’ opponent after he won the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell. The Viper seemed set to main event Survivor Series; however, Drew McIntyre is still not done with Randy Orton.
His quest to reclaim the WWE Championship has once again begun.
This puts Roman Reigns in a strange position where he does not know who he will face at the PPV. On Talking Smack, Paul Heyman addressed this situation pretty candidly.
He said, “Roman Reigns is ready for Drew McIntyre, should Drew McIntyre unseat Randy Orton to be the WWE Champion. Roman Reigns is ready for Randy Orton, should Randy Orton successfully defend the title, this Monday on RAW against Drew McIntyre.
“Whomever walks into Survivor Series, has the second most important championship in WWE, will remain the second most important champion in WWE when they step into the ring in the main event of Survivor Series against the single biggest Superstar in the entire industry today, Roman Reigns.”
Paul Heyman commented on Reigns’ potential opponents
The whole “family opening the doors” thing is so played out and just an unoriginal excuse. Free lesson for you, Drew. It’s not about getting in the door, it’s about owning the room. Which you will never do..while I’m around. Good luck on Monday at #RAW. #SurvivorSeries https://t.co/0tpl2H1fE0

Paul Heyman served up his purpose of being the best hype generator in the business, if there’s ever a term for such a role. He has not yet become the mouthpiece for the champion, like he was for Brock Lesnar. Instead, he acts as a special counsel, and it is his counseling that has taken Roman to the promised land.
The Tribal Chief is apparently ready for either opponent, irrespective of the result of Monday Night Raw’s main event. However, a Money in the Bank cash in would surely pour water over fans’ dreams of watching Roman Reigns slug it out against either Orton or Drew.

Drew McIntyre and Reigns have faced each other numerous times. The two had a hard-hitting rivalry in 2019 and were the final two men in the 2020 Royal Rumble match. Randy Orton has had issues with Roman Reigns, which harken to the latter’s Shield days.
On Raw, Drew McIntyre will get another opportunity at the WWE Title, when he faces Randy Orton in the fourth match of their long rivalry. The stakes are high, but none are higher than the chance to face Roman Reigns at Survivor Series.
