NOTE: The said taping is for the June 26th episode of SmackDown. This week’s episode has already finished taping.

WWE SmackDown taping canceled

It’s been reported that several employees and Superstars are yet to take the test. So judging by the scenario, WWE would have chosen not to take any risk.

It is still unclear whether the rest of the shows would be taped or not, thus far only SmackDown has been confirmed to have been canceled.

The exact reasons are yet to be revealed. Earlier reports had indicated that this week’s taping could go on for a very long time. Tapings were stacked and all the factors combined could have led to the decision.

Taking the right measures

The company will be testing every employee, Superstar, and friends and family who were part of the crowd. WWE’s official statement regarding the matter can be read below.

“A developmental talent, who was last on-site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms.

“However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company’s performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on-site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately.

“Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule.”

The sudden change of plans is definitely a blow for the company but keeping their staff safe is their primary concern. WWE will probably provide an update on the issue once everyone’s test results come out.

If things are clear, the company can proceed with some of their respective plans.
