“Please Retire”: Fans Continue Their Onslaught As Dwayne Johnson Edits Social Media Post To Hide Negativity After Taking Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 Spot

While fans always wanted to witness Dwayne Johnson go against his cousin, The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, they never wanted to see it happening at WrestleMania 40. For those who are not aware, at Friday Night SmackDown this week, it was revealed that instead of Cody Rhodes, Johnson would be facing Reigns at the upcoming WrestleMania.

Fans have been left feeling sour since then as the announcement came at a point when Rhodes was achieving new heights in his career. Amidst all this chaos, Johnson shared a message for a friend of his on social media, but fans were not going to let it slide.

Dwayne Johnson’s message for a friend turns into a battleground

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), The Brahma Bull shared a message for his friend, UFC’s Welterweight fighter, Themba Gorimbo. The Hollywood star wished Gorimbo the best of luck for his welterweight category fight at the ESPN Fight Night. Johnson also mentioned how he felt after hearing his story for the first time and how humble the MMA star is.

However, little did Johnson know that the comment section of his post would soon turn into a battlefield. Fans flocked in large numbers, expressing their anger after he allegedly “stole” Cody Rhodes’ WrestleMania 40 spot. The star tried to edit the post to reset all the comments as Rhodes’ fans flooded the comments sections. However, while he succeeded at it, fans quickly got the scent of it and decided to continue their onslaught.

Fans were pretty strong in voicing their opinion on the matter and stated that they want Cody Rhodes back as the main event star at WrestleMania 40.

One fan stated that this is the rock bottom of WWE, attaching an edited image of Dwayne Johnson in Hulk Hogan’s attire. This could be considered as a nod to the time when Hulk Hogan was accused by fans of hijacking WrestleMania IX.

Another stated that Johnson should retire now. One fan even stated that nobody likes him anymore.

One fan stated that this is something that never happens anywhere. He called out Johnson for doing the wrong thing and think about the efforts Rhodes had put in.

All in all, fans have been showing strong support for Cody Rhodes, whether it be Johnson’s comment section, or starting a petition online. In case you missed it, fans of The American Nightmare have started a hashtag on X called “#WeWantCody.” The hashtag is trending at number 1 in the country.

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
