WWE didn’t hold back while booking Dwayne Johnson in the current storyline involving The Bloodline. The former WWE champion hadn’t been seen in the ring in a long time, but now, things have changed. Despite a busy Hollywood schedule and prior commitments to other business ventures, Johnson is a regular fixture in the WWE.

While some fans would assume that ‘money’ is the motivating factor behind this decision, a UFC legend disagrees with this thought process. As per Chael Sonnen, the reason for the Hollywood superstar’s return was the feeling that he couldn’t buy anywhere.

Since The Rock has the urge to grow his businesses, the natural reason behind his WWE return seemed to be money. On top of everything, he also joined the TKO board of directors, making fans think that this was the reason behind his WWE return. However, Chael Sonnen believes that it is the feeling that Johnson craved more than anything.

After discussing The Brahma Bull’s ‘bloody’ segment with Cody Rhodes, the UFC legend also talked about the potential return reason on his show. Sonnen said, “It was not about the money. It was not because he needed it. But you do get a certain feeling that you can’t replace.

The UFC legend also relates to the same thing and claims that this ‘feeling’ can’t be bought anywhere. So, more than the money or business, Johnson’s WWE return could have been about the goosebumps that we have seen on his forearms during every appearance.

However, we cannot ignore the perks that the top-paid Hollywood actor is getting after his deal with WWE. Apart from his appearances, Johnson also received a large sum of money when he concluded his deal with TKO.

How much is Dwayne Johnson currently earning from WWE?

Various sources on the internet claim that the former pro wrestler is still signed with the Stamford-based company through a Legends Contract. This contract pays DJ around $5 Million a year reportedly for any appearance that he may be able to make. Moreover, upon joining TKO in January and becoming a board member, the sports entertainment company provided him with a bonus.

Upon signing with the company as a new board member, Johnson received an equity stake worth around $30 Million in the company. Despite the amount that he receives, Chael Sonnen’s words may be right about Johnson’s return.
