WWE SmackDown: December 17th, 2021, was host to a special guest, New UFC Bantamweight Champion Julianna Pena. She was at the arena with her championship belt and thoroughly enjoyed the energy and vibe of The Blue Brand in Chicago!

This was the first time Julianna Pena has visited the WWE Live Shows after she defeated Amanda Nunes at UFC 269. Pena ended Nunes’ 12-win streak, and the fans lost their minds! While some were upset, others rejoiced in Pena’s victory, especially WWE Superstars.

Julianna Pena passed controversial comments after defeating Amanda Nunes
After the defeat, Pena took a shot at Nunes, and claimed that she is the first mom-champ. Reason being, Pena won the championship after giving birth but Nunes is a mother, but did not give birth.
Julianna Pena says she should be considered the first "mom" champ and not Amanda Nunes because, "All respect to her, but I gave birth to my daughter." Says there should be a "baddest mom on the planet belt" made. #UFC269

Many did not like the message it sent, especially, coupled with the loss. To some, Pena came across as a sore loser. Some fans directly called Pena out on this, but WWE Superstar Shayna Baszler took a sarcastic approach to call out Julianna Pena over the comment.

The Nunes vs Pena was supposed to happen at UFC 265
Originally, the match between Nunes and Pena was scheduled for UFC 265. However, Nunes tested Covid positive, and as a result the match was canceled. The idea was to wait until Nunes became healthy and was ready to put the title on the line.

However, Julianna Pena was of the opinion that Amanda Nunes was not ready for the match and hence, she kept postponing the match. Of course, as a champion Nunes had to put the championship on the line some time or the other.

Undoubtedly, Julianna Pena prepared for the fight with utmost dedication and passion. Some believe it was a much deserved win for Pena after the fight she put up against Amanda Nunes!
