Following his release from WWE back in 2014, CM Punk tried his hands in UFC and now it looks like a former WWE talent is going to do the same. The twist is that he has a history with mixed martial arts. The star in question is Randy Orton’s former tag team partner, Matt Riddle.

In a clip posted by MMA Junkie on X (formerly Twitter), The Viper‘s former tag team partner was seen sharing his plans for the future. Upon being asked whether he feels like he could get back to MMA once again, he said that he is been in talks currently. He added that he feels like he left UFC quite early for WWE.

In a clip posted on the internet, the former WWE star was asked whether he would love to fight Jake Paul. Riddle replied enthusiastically by saying he would love to do it for some cash. He even added that he would prefer a kickboxing or a MMA fight instead of a traditional boxing match.

Although he feels pro wrestling has been great, Matt Riddle added that he “still wants to get beat up.” He concluded by saying that he is not going to reveal much until things are finalized with either UFC or any other MMA promotion. “But in 2024, there is a very big possibility that I get back in the ring or cage, and fight again. Pretty soon, so…” he said, all but confirming his reentry into the combat sports come the new year.

Matt Riddle was one of the stars who was released from WWE following the company’s merger with UFC. After the merger, a lot of talent and desk employees were released as a part of ‘major budget cuts.’ If Riddle wants to make a return to mixed martial arts, it won’t be an issue for him. The former RK-Bro is trained in both Muay Thai and kickboxing.

Apart from that, the star has a history with UFC as he had a short stint with the company. He started his career with UFC back in 2008 and left the company in 2013. During this time, he had a record of 8 wins, 3 losses, and 2 no contest. The statement showing his willingness to go back to MMA came in a couple of days after he showed interest in fighting internet celebrity Jake Paul.
