WWE superstar Sami Zayn, his tag team partner Kevin Owens, and opponents Jey and Jimmy Uso put on a classic display while headlining day one of WrestleMania 39 on April 1. The SoFi stadium remained privy to the culmination of one of the most gripping storylines in WWE in recent years.

What started on April 22, 2022, at the Survivor Series, took a little less than a year to reach full circle. At the said event, Sami Zayn had betrayed his friend of 20 years to gain favor from Roman Reigns and his bloodline. After several twists and turns, Sami was paid back in the same coin by one of his former stablemates.

The betrayal paved the way for the match at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’. Following a lengthy match, poetic justice was served as Sami Zayn managed to do what no other wrestlers could, while his partner stenciled his name alongside Dwayne Johnson. The encounter kept fans engrossed as they took to Twitter to share their views.

The WWE universe hailed the performers for the grand display

During the course of the match, Sami Zayn became the first opponent to survive Uso’s’ 1D finish, as the crowd went crazy.

Owens, by virtue of his second main event match at two back-to-back ‘Manias, equaled Dwayne Johnson’s record.

Dwayne Johnson has had consecutive WrestleMania main event appearances twice in his illustrious career. In 1999 and 2000 and later in 2012 and 2013. The Brahma Bull’s legendary opponent, Stone Cold Steve Austin, who he faced in the aforementioned 1999 event, also fought Owens in a No Holds Barred Match in last year’s ‘Mania.

The match wasn’t devoid of action. In fact, it provided plenty. So much so, that a fan complained about “breathing problems”.

Another described it as “SICK”.

This fan might need to visit the ENT after the confession.
