Austin Theory and John Cena opened WrestleMania 39 in exciting fashion as the crowd was pumped up to see them. However, the end wasn’t what the WWE universe expected at the grandest stage when Cena was involved. The A-Town star took a page from The Cenation Leader’s first win at WrestleMania to retain his title.
The match started with the crowd chanting for the ‘Franchise Payer’ hoping he could win the US Title at the ‘Showcase of Immortals’. But Theory had different plans as when the referee went down after an accidental kick by the US Champ, the 25-year-old connected a low blow to Cena.

He hit his finisher on Cena to take the win. Surprisingly, similar to the 16-time world champion, Theory used an underhanded tactic to win to register his first WrestleMania win. When Cena faced the Big Show back in WrestleMania 20, the F9 Star had done something similar put the giant down to win the match.

Theory will be really happy to pick the win against his childhood hero. Moreover, he defended his title against Cena, who had a singles WrestleMania match after a long time. However, the fans did love the match; it did not impress them with the finish.

As said fans expected much more from Cena’s first singles match at WrestleMania after a long. However, there was a feel-good entrance by the ‘Cenation Leader, but his taking the loss made the fans disappointed. Below are some of the reactions of the fans.

After this loss, we can expect that’s it for The Franchise Player in WWE for 2023. He will be back to new found stardom and career, i.e. Hollywood, as he has several new projects scheduled. A couple of films that are slated to release are Fast X and Ricky Stanicky.
Moreover, as the DCEU grows, he might reprise his role as Peacemaker. Nevertheless, love for WWE is never ending and he will be back when the time is right, managing all of acting schedule.
