In one of his interviews with Paul Bromwell, Angle was asked to share his thoughts on Brock Lesnar vs Alistair Overeem’s match from UFC 141. Overeem, making his UFC debut that night, won against Lesnar by TKO in the first round.

About the match, Angle said, “I was ultimately surprised, but not surprised, because Brock Lesnar had diverticulitis, sick around this time and I really believe he took the fight just for the money. I don’t think that he thought he was going to win, I don’t even think that he trained, to the ability of what he could train… I really believe if he wasn’t sick. If he didn’t have diverticulitis, he would have had a shot against Overeem. I just think he took the fight just for the money.”

Brock Lesnar is one tough fighter and despite not being at his 100%, he stepped into the octagon to fight. His nickname “The Beast Incarnate” is not just a name, it’s what Lesnar is in the ring.
