Diego Costa has been a catalyst in Chelsea winning two league titles in the last 3 seasons. After having struggled with a lot of players to replace the magnificent Didier Drogba, the former Atletico Madrid striker turned out to be the saviour Chelsea were looking for. Having scored 52 goals in 89 premier league matches, the blues would definitely consider this signing a success despite the shambolic 2015-16 season sandwiched between the two league truimphs. While in him Chelsea can boast of having arguably the best striker in the division, his fallout with Antonio Conte and his repetitive desire of leaving have effectively ended his Chelsea career and sent Chelsea on a hunt to find a new striker.
Manchester United, signing top target Romelu Lukaku, has come as a big blow to Chelsea. Here are few targets Chelsea would be looking at still signing:
1) Alvaro Morata. – The Spanish International is a player Antonio Conte has admired for a long time. In fact it was on his request that Juventus signed him. Though due to the Italian leaving the job days before pre season , the pair never got a chance to work with each other. Another effect of Lukaku joining Manchester United was Morata’s deal with the Red Devils falling through. As Morata looks for a move to get regular minutes and prove his worth being a first choice striker, Stamford Bridge could be the ideal destination. The biggest hurdle remains Real Madrid’s high asking price.
