LONDON (Reuters) – Bookmaker Williams Hill has cut its odds to 2/5 that Manchester United’s Louis Van Gaal will be the next Premier League manager to leave his post after Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat by Southampton. “For the first time, even Louis Van Gaal has admitted that he has failed and if he is not pushed, he could well walk,” William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said on Monday. “The fans have — or they had — great expectations of me, and I cannot fulfill them, so I am very frustrated because of that,” Van Gaal said after his team’s sixth league loss of the season. Van Gaal is also 6/1 to part company with United before their next game, an FA Cup fourth-round clash at Derby County on Friday, with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho an even-money favourite to replace the Dutchman. <strong>Brief History</strong>

Manchester United is regarded as one of the oldest football clubs in the Premier League. The team was formed in 1878, but under the name?Newton Heath LYR Football Club. It was only in 1902 that it was officially named Manchester United.

The Red Devils are arguably the most successful team in the Premier League. This was even back when the League was known as the Football League.

From 1945 onward, after the second World War, it was also the beginning of one of the greatest eras of Manchester United. In other words, it was the era of the 'Busby Babes'. However, in 1958, the rampant Busby Babes were halted in their tracks, by the Munich Air disaster, which claimed the lives of eight players. However, Matt Busby managed to rebuild the team once again.

Then, from 1986 to 2013, the next great Manchester United era began. Namely, the Sir Alex Ferguson era, where the Red Devils were dominant. Although they had a sluggish start, they came into their own in the 1990s.

Currently, after going through a few managers like David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho. Finally, the team has settled with United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Premier League has two transfer windows- Summer and Winter, where clubs can buy players. The summer transfer window generally over two months long, which begins and ends before the start of the season, while the winter transfer window is the mid-season window, which lasts the month of January.

The 2019-20 Premier League was the first season to incorporate a winter break, which has always been included in major leagues across Europe. This came up after much debate about the Premier clubs having a disadvantage in the UEFA Champions League over clubs from other leagues, who come fresh from a winter break.

In February 2020, the Premier League saw one round of matches played over two weekends, with five matches on the weekend commencing February 8, and five on the weekend commencing on February 15.

Premier League 2021/22 The 30th season of the top flight professional English football, Premier League 2021/22 will take place from August 13 2021 to May 17 2022. After a not-so-thrilling title race last season against Manchester United, Manchester City emerged victorious for the Premier League title.
