“A Real King Doesn’t Crown Himself, Michael Jordan Better”: LeBron James’ Tweet Causes NBA Fan Base Meltdown

The debate about choosing the greatest between Michael Jordan and LeBron James isn’t going to end any time soon. It might end when either James exits the court or the audience finds another player who can match Jordan’s capabilities and performance. James shared a video clip on Twitter recently that stated, “LeBron came straight outta high school and started doing this to grown NBA players at 18 years old.” He posted the clip with the hashtag “YoungKing“.
Several fans responded to this tweet, some agreeing with James and others comparing him directly to Jordan for his confidence in calling himself a king. This is not the first time he has referred to himself as royalty, but this tweet got a great response from NBA fans.

Brendan Haywood’s reaction to LeBron James calling himself the King
As a prelude to talking about his nickname, let’s remember “The Summer of LeBron,” when James gained so much popularity with the game. It is difficult to make a comparison because these two legends did not face each other on the court, thus making it almost impossible to name the best out of both of them.
These superstars belonged to two different generations, and have fanbases across both of them. The difficulty in comparison also arises because the game has changed so much over a period of time.

“Before he went to the Heat, he was recruiting guys to come to Cleveland. I get a text from a number that I don’t know. It’s LeBron. He says: ‘What’s up, this is King James.’ It was a little weird he called himself King James but I kept going. He told me he was trying to get guys to come to the Cavs.”
