Stamp Fairtex has steadily shot to global recognition over the past several years, but she had no idea how bright her star was shining until recently. The multi-sport talent recently made history by becoming the first athlete in ONE Championship to hold World Titles in three disciplines after she claimed the vacant ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Championship at ONE Fight Night 14.

Having previously reigned as the division’s kickboxing queen and Muay Thai World Champion, winning the MMA crown against Ham Seo Hee this past September was the perfect addition to her trophy cabinet. But that wasn’t the only monumental event for her this year!

Back in May, ONE mounted its first event on U.S. soil, ONE Fight Night 10, and Stamp was one of the stars of the show. She faced off against hometown hero Alyse Anderson that evening, and her win was met with rapturous cheers – not the boos she was expecting after taking out her American foe.

“I was surprised. I didn’t expect to have like a fan club in America. Obviously, in Singapore, I’ve been there a few times. I know there’s Thais over there as well, so I realized that. But I did not expect the extent of the fan club in the United States,” Stamp told the New York Post in a recent interview.

“If I get the opportunity [to fight in the United States], I want to fight here again. That way, more people can get to know me.”

Stamp remains focused on improving her skills

With her popularity now growing on the other side of the world, Stamp has embraced her status as a key figure in ONE’s global takeover. However, she maintains that it hasn’t changed her mentality.

Instead, the 26-year-old still seeks to improve her skills and be worthy of the hype. She also says that she wants to work on other aspects of her game to prove that she is no longer just a striker.

“Yeah, [I’m comfortable being this big star]. It’s normal, but I don’t think I’m that famous, and it doesn’t really go to my head too much,” Stamp said.

“I still have to really develop myself [as a grappler]. I don’t really think I’m that skilled. I really need to develop myself still [in terms of my grappling].

“Most of my opponents know that my standup is still my best, so they’ll still, sort of, develop their ground game and focus on that, of course.”
