The end of the transfer window for this year was culminated with a record net spend of £870m by the Premier League clubs. The deadline day did not see any big transfers as expected by many fans. Nonetheless, here is a list of the best new faces from top European Leagues like the La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 etc. making an entry to the esteemed English Premier League.

Manchester United signed Argentina international goalkeeper Sergio Romero on a three-year contract for a Free Transfer. He was previously with United manager Louis van Gaal for AZ Alkmaar in 2007 from Racing Club. United No. 1 stands presently on 3 clean sheets already from 4 games.

Matteo joined United on a four-year contract with the option to extend his deal for another year. The 25-year-old made 146 appearances and scored 5 league goals for Torino since making his debut in 2011. Complementing that are his 13 international caps for Italy and a crucial role in the World Cup squad for Italy in Brazil . His performance in the Premier League has been commendable till date.

 

Manchester City have completed the signing of Nicolas Otamendi on a five-year deal from Valencia for £34m . The 27-year-old former Porto player, will challenge Mangala and Martín Demichelis for the center back position and also partner with the club captain Vincent Kompany.

Aston Villa completed the signing of France U21 left-back Ligue 1 side Nice for £7m. The 21-year-old lad scored 3 goals in 54 league appearances for Nice and now has signed a five-year deal at Villa Park . He was impressive on his debut and had an assist in his following game .

World Cup winner with Germany and undoubtedly one of the best midfielders Bayern Munich has ever had, Schweinsteiger signed with United for £14.5m on a 3-year contract at Old Trafford. With age catching up and an injury prone career behind him, it will be keenly observed so as to how the talented German performs as the season ensues.

Stoke City completed the signing of Inter Milan and former Bayern winger Xherdan Shaqiri for a  record transfer fee of £12m on a five-year deal. He could not settle at Inter for long after rejecting Liverpool’s offer in the last winter window. He has 17 international goals in 46 games to his name.


Newcastle signed Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic for £13m on a five-year deal . Mitrovic managed 36 league goals in his 2 years for Belgium and was the leading scorer with 20 goals during his last campaign.

Ghana forward Andre Ayew joined Swansea City on a free transfer after signing a four-year deal with them. The 25-year-old has been at Marseilles since 2006 and has parted ways after his contract expired. He has 52 goals in 181 appearances for Marseille in Ligue 1.


Winger Memphis Depay completed a £31m move to Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven as he joined on a 4-year contract . He was Eredivisie’s top scorer with 22 goals and was instrumental when PSV grabbed their first Dutch title since 2008.

Liverpool completed the signing of Brazil forward Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim in a £28m deal on a long term contract. In the Bundesliga, he scored 48 times in 152 appearances for Hoffenheim, scoring 7 in the last term.

Chelsea completed a whopping £21m signing of Pedro from Barcelona on a four-year deal. The Spanish international of Catalans academy also scored 99 goals in 326 appearances since his debut in 2008 for Barcelona. He could be the best summer signing in the Premier League this season.
