While CS: GO is still one of the most popular FPS games in the world, Valorant is gradually making its way to the top of the genre. Ever since its release, Riot Games’ new FPS title has attracted millions of players, and a plethora of pro players quit CS: GO for it.

100 Thieves’ Hiko is one such talented professional who quit CS: GO for Valorant. He used to play CS: GO for Cloud 9 and Liquid, but currently is a part of 100 Thieves’ Valorant roster.

Naturally, fans are always curious to know if Hiko likes Valorant more than CS: GO. While talking about the competitive scene of both the games recently, the pro player shared his two cents on the topic.

Hiko likes Valorant competitive because it isn’t travel-heavy like CS: GO

It won’t be an overstatement that CS: GO, at its peak, was the biggest esport in the world. Its players had to travel for several months during a year, and LAN tournaments always boasted sold-out arenas. As per Hiko, it is unlikely that Valorant will ever be this big.

“I don’t think, Valorant, especially just because of how things are shaping up, I don’t Valorant ever gets to a point where CS was!”

Hiko’s claims are based on the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world in many ways. LAN tournaments are still a far-off possibility, and players now majorly play with their own gaming setups from home.

It is worth noting that Hiko and his teammaetes such as Nitro used to travel for 7-8 months in a year during peak CS: GO days. After a certain point, this became hectic, as players had to live outside home, and often without their families, wives, pets, and children.

Have LAN tournaments lost their integrity?

Hiko certainly wants to play Valorant in LAN tournaments. However, he thinks that the ongoing trend of online tournaments will help in making LAN tournaments more meaningful and attractive.

At the moment, there’s a narrative that CS: GO’s competitive is over-saturated. A NaVi vs Astralis final is more common than ever, and even Hiko admits that this harms the “meaningness” of such huge games.
