The 2019 edition of the draft saw a record-high 40 trades were made during this draft, becoming the most ever in NFL Draft history, surpassing the 37 that were made in 2017. It also broke the viewership records with more than 600,000 people in attendance in the streets of Nashville, and 47.5 million viewers watching at home.

Though the Raiders picked 11 players in the 2019 Draft, their biggest addition was that of Antonio Brown, who was traded from Pittsburgh Steelers. However, Brown remained a controversial figure throughout his stay in Oakland. He initially refused to attend practice sessions. Later, he criticised the league for mandating new helmets, and even threatened to retire over the issue. He was then involved in a rift with the club’s staff, before eventually making a move to New England Patriots without featuring in a single game for the Raiders.
