It has been over a decade now that Arsenal won their last Premier League title. The club fans have had enough with this title drought and irrefutably want to see their side holding the silverware. The club has not achieved a single European Cup till date and can only boast of two FA Cup titles in the past 11 years.

The leaky defence and sloppy attack have been the major problems for the North Londoners. With other clubs landing some huge targets, heat has risen in the Premier League and Wenger undoubtedly needs to make some crucial signings to keep them in the title race.

Here let us take a look at 5 signings that could put Arsenal back as title contenders:

  1. Kalidou Koulibaly:

The 24 year old Napoli’s centre-back can definitely fill in the void in the Arsenal’s Defence. With Per Mertesacker unable to cope up with strikers in recent times Koulibaly can be a sturdy replacement for him. Koulibaly along with Koscielny can toughen up the Arsenal’s defence. The Senegals’ current transfer fee stands at 20 million pounds. He had a good season with Napoli averaging 2.3 tackles, 2.7 interceptions and 3.8 clearances per game. With his price not much inflated in this transfer window Koulibaly should undeniably be in Wenger’s list.

  1. Neven Subotic:

The Serbian International has been with Borussia Dortmund for 8 years now and in the time has entrenched himself as a world class defender. He has been in Germany for 10 years and would undoubtedly be tempted to experience some other league. He made only 6 appearances for Dortmund this season. The 27 year old would easily fit into Arsenal’s defence. Currently valued at 11 million Euros, Subotic has clutched Klopp’s attention and is also heavily linked to Middlesbrough. Hence Wenger must make some quick decisions to land the Center Back in North London.

  1. Arda Turan:

The 29 year old Turkish attacking midfielder is also on Wenger’s list. Though not as efficient as he used to be in Atletico Madrid, but he and Mesut Ozil can prove to be a good attacking duo for the team. Turan managed to get into the starting 11 for only 13 matches for Barca and missed the crucial Champions League matches.

Wenger has got some competition from Dortmund to land Turan in Arsenal. Though Barcelona are open to offers for Turan but the midfielder has expressed his unwillingness to leave the club. Turan if snagged by Arsenal can solve their attacking issues.

  1. Julian Draxler:

Draxler has been under Wenger’s vision for a long time now. Arsenal is in a dire need of a striker now with Olivier Giroud unable to keep up with the fan’s expectations. Welbeck has been averted for a year due to an injury and Walcott has been unable to find his form. With this the whole forward department has been relying on Giroud. Arsenal has been playing 4-2-3-1 formation for most of the previous season and are keen to land another Striker to capitalize on the chances created. The German Left Winger would easily fit into Arsenal’s 4-4-2 formation. Also Wenger has been known to convert wingers like Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie into world class strikers and unequivocally Draxler can be another of Wenger’s creation.

The Spanish, Alvaro Morata is another Striker heavily linked with Arsenal. Currently Arsenal are locking horns with Chelsea to sign him but the asking price of the striker is a whooping 57 million pounds. Also Morata has enunciated his desire to join Arsenal over Chelsea. But Wenger is reluctant to do business at that price and would be waiting for Real to lower the price. Wenger has traced Morata’s progress since he was a Real Madrid youth. Wenger has sometimes startled the fans with shock signings as of Ozil and Sanchez and irrefutably Morata can be one.
