Answering the question, the legend straight away disapproved of the idea that tennis players show a lot of emotions. “For the most part, tennis players are incredibly well behaved. Maybe too well-behaved in my book. I’d like to see a little bit more explosive temper,” he said.

Further, the 63-year-old gave an example of current Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina to explain his point of view. “See the emotions, wear it on their sleeve, there’s a handful of people you see that, but I just saw someone win Wimbledon on the girl’s side who didn’t show any emotion so I don’t know if any of us want to see that. So perhaps there’s a happy medium,” he added.

McEnroe responds to Nadal’s request for talks
In the ongoing US Open, a journalist asked Rafael Nadal if he is not following the serve clock rule. The journalist further quoted John McEnroe, who said Nadal is getting away without following it. Replying to this, the 36-year-old accepted it has been an issue with him. However, he straight away rejected the idea of getting an unfair advantage from the umpires. Further, the Spaniard also said that he’ll have a word with McEnroe about it.

Now that McEnroe saw the interaction, he said the Spaniard is yet to discuss it with him. Further, McEnroe said that Nadal has done it for the past 10-15 years.

However, he feels that it’s not his but the umpire’s call to make and since no one pays attention to that, Nadal gets away with it. McEnroe also suggested making it automatic to actually get it right.
