Rory McIlroy is ready for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. In a video shared by the European Tour Performance Institute (ETPI) on Twitter, the Irish golfer is seen working out before the Championship.

The 32-year-old golfer has won 20 PGA Tours and has 8 international victories. He made history by being the first International golfer to become the director of the Player Advisory Council of the PGA Tour.

McIlroy and Abu Dhabi Championship have a love-hate relationship. In the last 11 times, Rory became the runner’s up four times and finished four times as a top-three player. However, McIlroy is yet to win the Championship.

Interestingly, Rory hasn’t won a DP World Tour title since the WGC-HSBC Champions of 2019. So the win at Abu Dhabi would be his redemptive victory.

The Twitter post included a video of how Rory is preparing himself for the Championship. Lifting weights, jumping, etc. are included in the athletes’ workout plan.

As a renowned sports entity, Rory McIlroy has faced criticism as well as good wishes throughout his career. So it was not a surprise when people started to criticize him for spending more time at the gym than at the course. 

Competing in a championship all someone need is good luck wish for the win. Some did try to take his confidence away by criticizing his putting skills. However, some people wished him nothing but the best for the future.

Of course, like every time, some people used the comment section to showcase their skill in humor. And when it comes from a golf coach himself, it becomes funnier.

Rory McIlroy sure looks like he wants to win the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship this time. But, the question is, can he? The Irishman had tried before and failed 11 times! Although he was in the top three 8 times, he is yet to win the title.
