The story of the fight

The match went to a decision after both fighters survived three rounds of brutality. Hager connected with stiff strikes in the first round while Calton remained on defence. In round two, Calton smashed Hager with a punch that nearly knocked his mouthpiece out of his mouth.

After managing to wobble the seemingly unstoppable Hager in the second round, he entered the final round with confidence. However, Hager turned the tables on him with body shots which nearly put away Calton, until the final bell sounded.

Hager won the fight by a hard fought decision to keep his undefeated record intact. Calton fought well, but it just wasn’t enough to put down the former World Heavyweight Champion.

Jake Hager in AEW

Hager’s win could not come at a more opportune time, when his faction on AEW is in turmoil. With Chris Jericho ready to face MJF, and Sammy Guevara ready to face Matt Hardy, Hager’s return to AEW would be one that could save the faction from breaking up.

This victory will obviously be celebrated on Dynamite or whenever Hager decides to return to wrestling. This win at Bellator 250 guarantees that Hager is not going to step away from MMA and will be pursuing larger and more lucrative goals in the future.

Renee Young showed her support for Jake Hager

Former WWE commentator and host of FS1, Renee Young, was tweeting out in support of Jake Hager. She even tweeted about Jake Hager coming out to WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth’s music. Ron Killings performed Jake Hager’s entrance theme in his debut fight in 2019.

The fight was an absolute slugfest and was quite entertaining for hardcore MMA fans as well. Although, some were disappointed by the result, especially due to Calton’s flurry in the second round. The match itself was a very hard-hitting one, and this win solidifies Hager’s name as a mainstay in the sport of mixed martial arts.
