Tonight, on AEW’s official Twitter handle, the company announced that Jay has suffered a severe shoulder injury. The injury occurred during training and would require surgery, rendering Jay out of action for 6-12 months.

Anna Jay was a part of the AEW Women’s World Championship eliminator tournament. The winner of this match will get a title shot at the upcoming AEW revolution against the champion Hiraku Shida.

Anna was going to face Dr. Britt Baker DMD in the first round. Her replacement, Madi Wrenkowski, protege and student of former NWA Women’s Champion, Thunder Rosa, ended up losing to Baker in a few minutes.

Jay is out of the ring since she wrestled Alex Garcia on the AEW Dark episode of January 12. However, she remained on her Tag Team Partner Tay Conti’s side during matches.

Fightful Select says Jay was actually injured over a month ago. Hence, AEW changed a few dark tapings at her convenience. However, the injury is quite severe. AEW has already pulled her from the Tournament promotions, and this injury update confirms it all.
