AEW Superstar and Dark Order Member Anna Jay Will Reportedly Miss One Year Due To Severe Injury

AEW fans got another disappointing news this week. The infamous Dark Order member and noted superstar, Anna Jay, will be out of in-ring action for a minimum of 6 months.

Tonight, on AEW’s official Twitter handle, the company announced that Jay has suffered a severe shoulder injury. The injury occurred during training and would require surgery, rendering Jay out of action for 6-12 months.

Anna Jay was a part of the AEW Women’s World Championship eliminator tournament. The winner of this match will get a title shot at the upcoming AEW revolution against the champion Hiraku Shida.

Anna was going to face Dr. Britt Baker DMD in the first round. Her replacement, Madi Wrenkowski, protege and student of former NWA Women’s Champion, Thunder Rosa, ended up losing to Baker in a few minutes.

Jay is out of the ring since she wrestled Alex Garcia on the AEW Dark episode of January 12. However, she remained on her Tag Team Partner Tay Conti’s side during matches.

Fightful Select says Jay was actually injured over a month ago. Hence, AEW changed a few dark tapings at her convenience. However, the injury is quite severe. AEW has already pulled her from the Tournament promotions, and this injury update confirms it all.

Anna Jay states her disappointment as AEW Superstars show their support

Following the announcement, Jay tweeted about it, “I’m super upset about this…. all I can do now is put in the work to come back stronger. Thanks for all the love and support everyone. It means a lot to me!”

After the injury update, various AEW superstars extended their support to Jay. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega wrote, “Terrible shame but it’s the nature of the beast. Hope for a quick recovery.”

Austin Gunn reiterated Omega’s words as he said, “I know what it’s like to be injured (it’s what led me to be so good at cheering ringside). So please, Anna Jay. We’d be honored if you joined the Gunn Club ringside on Wednesday nights!”
