The running theme for AEW Full Gear was a tribute to Eddie Guerrero and to his memory. From the very beginning to the end, almost everyone paid a tribute to Eddie Guerrero.

Some of the pro-wrestlers among them are CM Punk and Chris Jericho.

Before Punk’s match, he announced that this was for Eddie Guerrero. Moreover, during his match against Eddie Kingston, the fans chimed in and started cheering “Eddie”. While it could have been for Kingston himself, it’s doubtful the fans would choose Kingston over Punk.

Clearly, this was a subtle tribute to Guerrero from the fans.

On the other hand, Chris Jericho paid a tribute to Eddie Guerrero when he executed the late wrestler’s move, the frog splash, during The Inner Circle’s match.

The Lucha Bros paid their tribute to Guerrero with Lie, Cheat, Steal.

Keeping them aside, even Matt Hardy paid a tribute to Guerrero with a special message on social media.

WWE conducted their tribute to Eddie Guerrero in the same arena

AEW Full Gear 2021 was held at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was the same center where WWE conducted their tribute back in the day.

Additionally, AEW’s PPV was scheduled on Guerrero’s 6th Death Anniversary. The wrestling legend passed away on November 13th, 2005 because of heart failure. His nephew, Chavo Guerrero, discovered him in an unconscious state in his hotel room at Marriott Hotel City Center.

In an interview, Chavo Guerrero revealed that his uncle was barely clinging onto life when he found him.

Even though Eddie Guerrero is not walking the earth anymore, he still holds a very special place in the wrestling industry and in the hearts of all wrestling fans.

During his time with the industry, Guerrero was one of the most popular wrestlers. He found stardom in WWE, even though he worked in other promotions prior to that.

During his time with WWE, he feuded with several, even Rey Mysterio. His storyline with Rey Mysterio is when Dominik Mysterio got involved as well. To this day, The Mysterios remembers Eddie Guerrero in every important moment of their wrestling careers.

Over the years, several have paid tribute to Guerrero through their matches and promos. And, the wrestling industry will continue to do so!
