Chris Jericho Overcomes Shawn Spears in a Grueling Chairs Match on AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest

Chris Jericho and MJF have been in a blood feud for months now. It’s not just a blood feud, but a wonderful storyline that has been carved out of nothing. We’ve seen The Inner Circle and The Pinnacle take it to the limit inside Blood and Guts as well as at Stadium Stampede. However, the issues aren’t settled yet.

The ‘Le Champion‘ desperately wants to get his hands on MJF, but he can’t unless he completes the five labors. This week, Jericho took on Shawn Spears in a Chairs match in what was the first labor of Jericho. The catch here was Spears could use the chair, but not the ‘Demo God!’

Chris Jericho finds a way to beat Shawn Spears in First Labor on AEW Dynamite

Fyter Fest Night 2 edition of AEW Dynamite kicked off with Chris Jericho versus Shawn Spears with MJF on commentary. Jericho wasted little time and gained control of the match in the early going. He looked to play smart and use the chair without the referee noticing it, but Aubrey Edwards is too good at her job.

As Aubrey Edwards caught Jericho with the chair, Spears looked to take advantage, but ended up on the barricade. The fight then got onto the apron where the ‘Chairman’ turned the tides. Just as Jericho went for a springboard dropkick, Spears connected with a chair to his face.

Shawn Spears controlled the match throughout the mid-moments. He worked on Jericho’s injured arm and even hit a chair shot with his arm against the ring post. Despite the adversity, the former AEW World Champion had some gas left in the tank and he used that to make a strong comeback.

Chris Jericho took Spears on the top rope and then hit an Avalanche Frankensteiner on Spears! In the ultimate moments of the match, Jericho made Spears submit to the Walls of Jericho. But the referee didn’t see it as Tully Blanchard distracted her.


However, things were even when Sammy Guevara came down to even the odds. Spears went for a vicious move on a pile of chairs, but Jericho countered and connected with a Judas Effect to win!

While Jericho found a way to pick a win against Shawn Spears, next week won’t be a an easy night for him. Why? Well, because MJF announced that Jericho’s second labor will be against Nick F*n Gage in a No Disqualification match!
